Allometric Models for Estimating the Height of Robinia pseudoacacia L. in Restoration Plantations

نویسندگان

چکیده

In this study, we aimed to develop height growth models using forest data with the measured total height, bole and diameter at breast targeting Robiniapseudoacacia plantations of various ages, located in restoration former mining areas a lignite center Northwestern Greece. To achieve goal, 24 circular plots were randomly established different ages. Eleven tested for fit, selection was based on three statistical criteria. The developed revealed that black locust grow well, thus being an excellent species mines. There is no comparison between pre- post-mining areas, site quality other aspects are not taken into account; our give basis assessments affected by mining.

Evidence for inbreeding depression in the tree Robinia pseudoacacia L. (Fabaceae).

The magnitude of inbreeding depression within populations is important for the evolution and maintenance of mixed mating systems. However, data are sparse on the magnitude of inbreeding depression in Robinia pseudoacacia. In this study, we compared differences in the mature seed set per fruit, seed mass, germination success, and seedling growth between self- and cross-pollination treatments and...

Investigation of the Allometric Models in Estimation of Poplar (Populus deltoides) Height

One of the most important issues in forest biometrics is the use of allometric functions to estimate the tree height by using diameter-height models. Measuring the total height of trees is usually a complex and time-consuming process. In allometric functions, the diameter is measured directly but the height of the tree is an estimate of an allometric model, which will be more accurate if the cr...

The Silviculture of Black Locust (Robinia pseudoacacia L.) in Hungary: a Review

Black locust was introduced in Hungary between 1710 and 1720. The first large black locust forests were established at the beginning of the 18th century on the Great Hungarian Plain stabilizing the windblown sandy soil. In the country, black locust occupied 37.000 ha in 1885, 109.000 ha in 1911, 186.000 ha in 1938 and 415.000 ha in 2009. At present, it is the most widely planted species in Hung...
